Building an operating system for Gen AI

Building an operating system for Gen AI

ComfyUI is building foundational open source software for the visual AI space. We make tools for the artist of the future: a human equipped with AI who can be an order of magnitude more productive than before. We unlock animators, creative directors, and startups to use AI without paying money to large closed AI companies. We empower the individual who was not born with the gift of the brush, to also be a painter.

ComfyUI builds software that equips our users to solve their own problems using AI. We provide a set of building blocks that enables users to make software that solves their own problems, often without writing a single line of code. Because of this, ComfyUI is used for many things: creating videos, 3D assets, images, music, art exhibits, powering other apps as an API and more.

About us

We are a group of engineers and artists who maintain ComfyUI and other tools in the ecosystem. Our work is already used by millions of users to create images, videos, 3D, and audio with AI. Our team comes from Stability AI and Google and many contributed to the ComfyUI ecosystem way before working here.

Our organization is very flat and there are no titles. The only thing that matters is the quality of your ideas and execution. We work hard and demand a lot of each other. But we have fun: everyone is here to make something meaningful that will end up being our life’s work.

We are in-person in a small office in San Francisco. Check out our Github and blog for what we’ve been working on.

Our investors include Pace Capital, Chemistry, Cursor VC, Guillermo Rauch.

Why joining Comfy Org might *NOT* be for you?

Working at Comfy Org isn't for everyone, and that's totally fine. You might want to look elsewhere if:

  • You need everything planned out. We're figuring things out as we go and changing direction fast. If uncertainty stresses you out, you probably won't have fun here.

  • You see yourself as just a coder/[insert job title]. Around here, everyone does a bit of everything - talking to users, writing docs, whatever needs to get done. We need people who jump in wherever they can help.

  • You need well-defined processes. We're building something revolutionary, which means making up the playbook. If you need clear structures, this might drive you nuts.

  • You like having a manager checking in on you. We trust people to own their work end-to-end. When you see something broken, you fix it - no permission needed.

  • You prefer waiting until you have all the facts. We often have to make calls with incomplete info and adjust as we learn more. Analysis paralysis doesn't work here.

  • You bring a huge ego to the table. We're all about pushing boundaries and solving hard problems, not individual heroics. If you can't take direct feedback or learn from mistakes, this isn't your spot.
